About counselling
Therapy is not about becoming someone else. It is a place to understand yourself with more clarity, compassion and choice.
Assalamoalaykum
I am an accredited counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
After more than two decades in education, I retrained to support people with their mental and emotional wellbeing, particularly within Asian communities. I primarily work with young adults and women.
I use different modes of counselling, including Transactional Analysis, CBT, Gestalt and Person-Centred Theory, to meet each client’s individual needs.
I believe the relationship between client and counsellor is at the heart of therapy. Together, we can explore challenges, build self-awareness and develop tools for lasting change.
Every person has the capacity to flourish and heal with the right support.
A flexible approach
We will review the work regularly so that therapy remains useful and aligned with what you need. Many clients find weekly sessions most helpful, with an initial commitment of four to six sessions giving us space to build momentum.
A confidential space where your experience is taken seriously.
Different counselling methods used thoughtfully and transparently.
Clear goals without forcing change before it feels safe.

A familiar face
Simba is the household poser: very photogenic, very dramatic, and entirely convinced he is royalty. He sometimes makes a quiet cameo around Sufiya’s working space, bringing a little warmth to the calm online setting clients meet her in.
He is male, despite carrying himself with full diva-princess confidence.
Professional membership
Sufiya Patel is an Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.) and works within recognised professional standards for safe, ethical practice.

When you are ready
Online counselling for clients in the UK and UAE.
Urgent support
Counselling is not an emergency service. In the UK, call NHS 111 and choose the mental-health option, or call Samaritans on 116 123. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. In the UAE, call 998 for an ambulance or 999 for police.
